Privacy policy
Careerably is an applicant tracking tool run by Sidejar ("we", "us"). Companies use it to post jobs and review applications; job seekers use it to apply. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with and what you can ask us to do.
Who is responsible for your data
- If you apply for a job: the company you apply to decides how your application is used, and is responsible for it. We store and process your application on their behalf.
- If you use Careerably to hire: we are responsible for your account data.
What we collect
Employers (account holders)
- Name, work email, company name and password (stored hashed by our authentication provider)
- Company logo and website, job posts and screening questions you create
- Your choice of AI setup. If you bring your own OpenRouter key, it stays in your browser and is sent with each AI request; we never store it.
Applicants
- Name, email and phone number (optional)
- Résumé and any files you upload, your written answers, the links you share (including your LinkedIn profile URL) and any video answers you record
- If you choose Apply with LinkedIn: your name, email and profile photo from LinkedIn. We don't receive your LinkedIn password, connections or work history.
Everyone
- A login cookie to keep employers signed in, and short-lived cookies used during Apply with LinkedIn. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it
- To run the service: show jobs, collect applications and let the hiring company review them
- AI features: when the hiring company asks for it, the job description and an applicant's written answers are sent to an AI model to produce a score, summary, strengths and concerns. The AI also drafts job posts from an employer's notes. Scores are there to help people review; a person makes every hiring decision.
- To keep the service secure and to contact employers about their account
We don't sell personal data, and we don't use applications to train AI models.
Who we share it with
We use these providers to run Careerably, only for the purposes above:
- Supabase: database, file storage and sign-in (hosted in the EU, Frankfurt)
- Vercel: website hosting
- OpenRouter and the AI model provider it routes to (for example Anthropic): AI scoring and drafting
- LinkedIn: only if you choose Apply with LinkedIn
The hiring company you apply to can see your full application. Nobody else can: each company only sees its own jobs and applicants, and uploaded files open through links that expire after an hour.
How long we keep it
Applications are kept for as long as the hiring company keeps the job in Careerably, or until you or they ask us to delete them. Employer accounts are kept until the account is deleted.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how it's used. Applicants can contact the company they applied to or us directly; we'll help either way. Email peter@sidejar.co and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Careerably isn't meant for anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date below and tell employers by email.
